Earlier this year a series of engagement events were held with representatives from a wide body of organisations and consultation was undertaken with the wider community to ask what the document should contain, leading to the publication of a draft Canal Quarter Strategic Regeneration Framework (draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)) which, once approved, will be a material consideration in planning decisions within the area.
The draft Canal Quarter Strategic Regeneration Framework (draft SPD) for the Canal Quarter presents a vision and development strategies, supported by a set of design principles, to guide the future development of the area over the next 15-20 years, including acceptable uses of land / buildings and essential ingredients such as sustainability and the incorporation of green space.
People are now being asked to have their say on this vision. The consultation runs for 8 weeks until Monday 10 February 2020. All comments received will be taken into consideration when developing the final SPD and its adoption by Lancaster City Council.
